From Kottke's remaindered links, I was inexplicably drawn to Google's "The Prejudice Map." It's really pretty fascinating. Information for the map was found by doing searches of the Interwebs such as "Germans are known for*" (the * being an open-ended variable character, something all good searchers know, and I was reminded of during my 3-hour LexisNexis training session yesterday) and summing up the results. Some of the stereotypes are really interesting. Apparently, US Americans are known for their "dislike of walking." Once again, Canadians pass us up on a coolness factor by "liking their beer."
Just makes you think. If you had to fill in your own perceptions on the map, what would you put? How's that for a thought-provoking question?
